OBSTETRICAL DEPARTMENT

At IMC’s OB Department, our motto is, “We only deliver cute babies”, and we have been doing that for over 60 years! The birth of a baby is a joyous event that we feel honored to be a part of. The staff at Indianhead Medical Center provides personalized care tailored to meet your birth needs.

Our staff’s goal is to deliver a happy, healthy baby in a safe environment.

First-time moms are encouraged to attend childbirth classes, which are offered free of charge at the hospital. During the class, you and your labor partner will learn about:

• Stages of labor
• Relaxation techniques
• Different labor positions
• Breathing techniques
• Medication options
• Post-partum care

You will also have an opportunity to watch videos of vaginal and cesarean births. We pride ourselves in providing one-on-one labor support.

Indianhead Medical Center has a certified Lactation Counselor on staff that is available to provide information about breastfeeding as well as assistance before, during and after delivery. If you choose to breastfeed your baby, please know that IMC’s staff is very knowledgeable in this area and will provide you with the proper techniques you need because caring for you and your family is our specialty!
